I woke up one morning, February of 2006, my right eye seemed to have a covering over it. I made an appointment with my eye doctor who immediately referred me to an eye specialist.

At that time I was not sure what was going on with my eye. At first, I thought that it wasn’t anything serious, but when I got referred to an eye specialist, I got scared that it might be worse than I thought.

After several appointments, an MRI, X-Rays, and a lengthy conversation he said I had optic neuritis and that I should make an appointment with my primary care doctor.

Even though I didn’t like going from one doctor to another, I knew that I have to do anything and everything for my health.

When I had my appointment with my primary care doctor, I was given the choice of steroids or it could heal up on its own. I didn’t take medication and in about two weeks it healed up.

Though my sister had MS I thought because I was in my mid 40’s I had dodged the bullet. My primary care physician referred me to a neurologist who confirmed that I had MS.

Living with Multiple Sclerosis is a daily struggle, but I have my friends and my family that are always here for me and I am grateful for that.

Some days are better than others and sometimes my condition gets the better of me. Nevertheless, I will never stop fighting and I will continue living life to the fullest.
